Meet the Counselor
Shanna is a Licensed Professional Counselor & National Certified Counselor who specializes in Depression, Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Life Transitions, and Grief and Loss.
She recognizes each person's life experiences are unique and these experiences have led each person to where he or she is today. Everyone has had to develop skills over the course of their life in order to cope with difficulties and evolve as a person. However, the skills that helped in the past may not be the skills needed for new life experiences and difficulties.
Shanna takes into account each person's cultural background, family dynamic, relationships, social environment, spiritual beliefs and biological factors, as these are crucial to understanding the person as a whole. She understands that when one of these areas is out of balance, people are more vulnerable to stress. Stress is a prime factor in emotional and physical health. When coping skills for stress are not as effective as they once were, people become more susceptible for experiencing emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, anger, low self esteem and compassion. Stress can also strain relationships and contribute to medical issues.
“Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.”
― Sigmund Freud
